When you come to a Bread Matters course and are staying at any of the B&Bs or hotels marked [BM Transfers] we will provide transport between Macbiehill Farmhouse and your accommodation at no extra charge. If you are using public transport, we can also collect you from Edinburgh Waverley station on the evening before your course.
We have a simple, quiet and warm double bedroom with en suite bathroom, across the courtyard from the main house. It is available for one, two or three night stays.
Visitors staying in the Courtyard room have use of a fully equipped kitchen in the barn, where we provide everything you need for an organic, self-service breakfast. You will find the fridge stocked with butter, eggs, milk and yoghurt. There will be plenty of bread, (made by Andrew), home made preserves, fresh fruit and granola or muesli.
Charges £60 (inc taxes) per night for the room (for two people) and breakfast.

This 4* luxury B&B is on a delightful, traditional smallholding just 25 minutes drive from Macbiehill Farmhouse. The owners, Colin and Deborah aim to be self-sufficient, organic and sustainable.

Drochil Castle Farmhouse
Family run Drochil Castle in the scenic and historic Scottish borders is a traditional Scottish farmhouse bed and breakfast 25 miles from Edinburgh. There are five guest bedrooms, all with views over the beautiful Peebleshire countryside.
Breakfast, made with fresh and delicious local produce, is served in the conservatory where the spectacular panoramic view of the valley and surrounding farmland will captivate you. Packed lunches and evening meals are available. It is well situated for cycling and mountain biking at Glentress and the Red Bull at Innerleithen. There is secure storage and washing facilities for bikes.

Patieshill Farm will re-open from Easter 2017 and is taking bookings for dates from mid-April.
On a working sheep farm, with great views of the Pentland Hills. Quite high and rural, with a nearby footpath into Carlops village. All three rooms (one twin and two double) have en-suite bathrooms and are on the ground floor. Guests come and go via a private external door.

Between Carlops and West Linton, in a rural setting with views of the hills. The proprietor keeps horses.
Five kingsize/family rooms all with en-suite bathrooms and all on the ground floor in a modern extension. One room and en-suite bathroom may be suitable for disabled guests (please check that it has what you need before you book). Guests come and go via a priave external door and can use the separate kitchen in the evening.

The Allan Ramsay Hotel in Carlops village can provide transport to and from Bread Matters which is just a ten minute drive from the hotel.
The hotel has four comfortable ensuite bedrooms: a single, a double, a twin and a family room. Single occupancy rates vary slightly depending on the room chosen and range from £49 to £69. Average cost per person per night is £49.
The restaurant serves the best of local produce. There is an open fire and a well stocked bar.
The hotel was built in 1792 and is named after the celebrated Scots painter.

Gartmore is a newly refurbished self-catering holiday cottage located in the heart of West Linton village.
The cottage is in a private square, close to local shops, bank, post office, pub and restaurant.
The accommodation sleeps four, with one double bedroom, one bathroom and a twin bedroom on a mezzanine floor built as a gallery, which overlooks the hallway to the kitchen.
The kitchen/living room has a log burning stove, TV, free WiFi, dining area and modern well-equipped kitchen.
Situated off the A702 trunk road, 1.25 miles South of West Linton village. The 3* accommodation is a former Gamekeeper's Cottage overlooking Slipperfield loch, it sleeps up to four.

Whitmuir Farm is a ten to fifteen minute walk from Bread Matters. It has an art gallery (Dancing Light), restaurant, butchery and shop as well as farm walks and activities. It's a good place to spend a few hours on the day before or after your Bread Matters course, and handy for a friend or partner who is visiting the area with you but not attending the course.
Whitmuir serves only organic food. Both the restaurant and the shop have Whitmuir's own lamb, pork, bacon and beef, eggs, vegetables etc.
